Finally, at last, the calendar for the Repco Supercars Championship in 2021 is complete.

There are no surprises after a long series of leaks and hints since the program was originally promised in October ahead of the Bathurst 1000.

Bathurst opens the action with a sprint race on February 26-28, satisfying the requirement from Destination NSW that its state should either open or close the series, and the Gold Coast takes over as the championship finale on the first weekend in December.

“It is important to us to ensure the 2021 calendar features as much certainty for fans as we can provide given the current Covid-19 restrictions in each state and territory,” said Supercars CEO, Sean Seamer.

There are no details on the race formats, although Bathurst is the only two-driver enduro on the calendar.

“We think having three different event formats used in 2021 will build on what we’ve learned about our racing this year, so fans can look forward to thrilling weekends every time we race,” he said.

Sandown is still gone, but Tasmania and Perth are included after missing the Covid-19 cut this year, with New Zealand at the back end of the championship to provide a pandemic buffer.

“We’re thrilled that next year we can deliver two events at Mount Panorama, including the season opener in February. We are still working with all government partners on fan limits for each event, but we are confident of strong crowd numbers across Australia and New Zealand, in line with the current loosening of Covid-19 restrictions,” said Seamer.
