DOWNSHIFTING: Thomas Randle

It's Thomas, not Tom or Tommy. That much is clear when you ask the driver of the Castrol Mustang what he prefers to be called. But it doesn't really bother him when Amanda Keller goes for something else during the episode of The Piano when he shows his other ability as a musician.
1. What makes you laugh?
Lots of things. I like good banter with people, good jokes, comedy TV shows or movies. I laugh a fair bit. I like to be pretty light-hearted. Life is about enjoying yourself. We’re on this earth for a short time.
2. What’s on your playlist?
A range of things. My mix goes from Angus and Julia Stone to Daft Punk, Rufus, The Killers and Pete Murray. A bit of Queen, too. And The Eagles and Coldplay and Fleetwood Mac. I like my music.
3. What was the last movie you saw?
The last one I watched completely, even though wasn’t that good, was A Most Wanted Man. It has Phillip Semour Hofman and Rachel McAdams. I’ve been watching Zero Days, the series.
4. One road, one car, one passenger?
I'll say Stelvio Pass in Italy, a DeTomaso Pantera, and Adrian Newey.
5. Your dream car - to park and admire?
McLaren MP4/4.
6. Your greatest motorsport success?
I'm still waiting. But, to this point, I’m going to say, it’s a toss-up winning the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand in 2017 and winning in Tassie in S5000 on my return after my cancer battle.
7. Your greatest failure?
There have been so many. At the karting world titles in 2012 I didn’t make the Rotax final. That was such a disappointment. And in British F3, at Donington, the last round.
8. Your one regret?
I’m very happy with where I am now. You have goals in concrete and plans in sand. Because the sand is always moving.
9. What is your guilty pleasure?
Probably eating chocolate.
10. Which actor would play you in the movie of your life?
Tom Cruise. Because he looks like me, in a way.
