MCLAUGHLIN HITS HARD AT INDY

Scott McLaughlin was lucky to walk away from a massive crash during final practice before qualifying for the Indianapolis 500.
His 'Yellow Submarine' became the third car to go airborne after he lost control during the Fast 12 practice, having just topped the times with a speed of 233.553 miles-per-hour ( 375.867kmh).
The incident also caused a delay to proceedings for repairs to the Safer crash barrier and the track itself as his Team Penske racer created a gouge in the track surface.
"Incredibly sad," McLaughlin said after the biggest crash of his IndyCar career.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just really, really sorry for everyone at Team Penske, the guys on the #3 car and everyone who builds these fantastic cars."
After a medical check he reported the lead-up to the incident.
"It (the car) was talking to me and I sort of felt it and I probably should have backed out. But you try to complete a run to see what it feels like.
"Was it (worth) the risk? Probably wasn't," he said.
McLaughlin will start the Indy 500 from position 12 after failing to take part in the Fast 12 session leading up to the shoot-out for Pole Position.
