SVG Makes It Four Straight At Sandown

Shane van Gisbergen did it again in Race 2 at the Sandown Supersprint.

He had to battle for a while on a soaking wet track, but eventually drove past and away from Cam Waters as the podium was filled in exactly the same order as Saturday afternoon despite a 180-degree flip in the weather.

Jamie Whincup took third in the Red Bull Ampol sister car to SvG, while Chaz Mostert was still only fourth despite some torrid action.

The biggest casualty of the 36-lap sprint was Anton De Pasquale, who had an engine failure in his Shell V-Power Mustang that required a change before the final race, although Macca Jones also stopped with engine trouble in his Commodore.

“That was pretty cool,” SvG said after his win.

His response was very different to Waters, who was tripped into a spin by Mostert but still recovered to bring his Monster Mustang home.

“That was a pretty epic race there. It was pretty wet at the start and I was just holding on,” Waters said.
